A car is blocking you in? Here is what to do
No need to lean on the horn or wait an hour — most of these end in minutes.
Work through the list below, and if the car carries a KLAKS sticker, scan the code and the alert lands on the owner's phone right away.
Try these first
- Look at the windshield: there is sometimes a note with a number on it, or a QR sticker like KLAKS you can scan and send an alert with.
- Ask the parking attendant, the building doorman, or the nearest shop or café — whoever is out on the street usually knows whose car it is.
- Look at what the car is parked in front of: if it is a building with a gate or a garage, the owner is probably inside and the doorman can call up to them.
- Give it ten minutes before you do anything else — most people are back sooner than you expect.
- Never touch the car, push it or damage it, and do not block it in back — that makes the problem bigger, not smaller.
If the car has a KLAKS sticker
- Scan the code with your phone's ordinary camera — nothing to install, no sign-up.
- A page opens with ready-made messages: tap “Your car is blocking me in” and the owner gets it on their phone right away.
- And you stay anonymous: you never have to leave your number or your name, and there is no box to type a message in — the messages are all ready-made buttons.
And if it is your car?
